Virginia New Majority chapters consist of a cluster of members in a town or neighborhood that are ready to work together for fairness, progress, and opportunity. They bring residents together to advocate for change in our state government and organize for change in their own communities. We currently have chapters forming in:

VNM chapters are the building blocks for the burgeoning progressive majority movement in the commonwealth. Chapters organize grassroots campaigns for progressive change, meet with elected officials, hold rallies, host citizenship clinics, do voter outreach during elections, and conduct information sessions to educate neighbors and friends about the issues that they care about.

Our Herndon chapter led and won a campaign to transform an anti-immigrant town ordinance. In Richmond, our chapter partnered with public housing residents to develop a strategic vision for their neighborhood. And we have more chapters forming on local university campuses and in communities across the state.

Become a Citizen

Become a US citizen. Become a Virginia leader.

All residents of Virginia have a critical role to play in creating a democratic, just, and sustainable Commonwealth. US Citizens have a unique set of privileges and responsibilities to build a progressive future for Virginia. Northern Virginia alone has over 30,000 residents that are eligible to apply for citizenship.

Virginia New Majority is helping eligible residents become citizens and neighborhood activists for a fair and secure future.

VNM holds regular citizenship clinics to help individuals complete their citizenship applications. We work with community partners and local churches to determine eligibility, process applications, and provide individual legal assistance to applicants. Hundreds of residents have attended our clinics, and many are on their way to full citizenship. Some of our local partners include CARECEN, the Hispanic Bar Association, Holy Family Catholic Church, Our Lady of the Angels, and St. Pauls UMC, and Todos Supermarket in Woodbridge.

We also conduct VNM Democracy Schools to prepare applicants for the citizenship exam and to be long-time citizen activists in their communities.
