Virginia New Majority – Richmond Organizer

Virginia New Majority is building power for progressive change in Virginia.  We are Virginia’s leading civic engagement organization mobilizing and organizing thousands of voters.  Our year-round approach to organizing involves mass scale voter outreach, linked to intensive leadership development and chapter –building.

Qualifications

  • 1-4 years of organizing experience
  • Experience organizing large scale voter engagement campaigns and canvassing operations, and using VAN or votebuilder a plus.
  • A driver’s license and access to a car are required.
  • Should work well independently with limited direct supervision.
  • Ties to the community are a strong plus.

Responsibilities
Organizing

  • Recruit members through house visits and direct contact.
  • Organize and sustain chapters with at least 10 active members.
  • Implement local, state, and national campaigns.
  • Coordinate political education for organizers, members, and leaders
  • Provide support to leaders in executing tactics and facilitating meetings
  • Participate in building campaign coalitions and key relationships with campaign-related allies

Admin and Other

  • Coordinate with appropriate staff for communications, fundraising and other group activities.
  • Participation in organizational planning processes.
  • Insure adherence with VNM personnel policies
  • Contribute to developing organizational theory and practice
  • Run payroll reporting for paid canvass, recruit, hire and manage paid canvass teams
